100 years ago, on the night of March 10–11, 1919, the Upper Don rebellion broke out. It was one of the most tragic events in the history of the Don Cossacks, it became the central theme of the novel “And Quiet Flows the Don” by M.A.Sholokhov.

An opening ceremony of the unique travelling exhibition “The Study and World of the Writer” took place on March 6, 2019, in the year of the 220th anniversary of A.S.Pushkin, in the area of the Museum-Reserve “Polotnyany Zavod”, a structure of the Kaluga United Museum-Reserve.
Results of the International Contest for Young Environmentalists

The XII International (absentee) contest of research works for the children and youth environmental movement “Sholokhov Source” is over. It was organized by the Museum-Reserve of M.A.Sholokhov jointly with the Rostov Region Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment and the Nongovernmental Environmental Foundation named after V.I.Vernadsky. The theme of the contest is “Sholokhov Source”: 20 Years of Environmental and Literary Education”.

The Museum-Reserve of M.A.Sholokhov holds classes of the club “Riding on Horseback around the Upper Don” where children and teenagers learn about the way of life of the Don Cossacks and about the features of horse management.

An opening ceremony of the photo exhibition “60 Years in Love and Harmony” took place on March 1, 2019, in the Memorial House at the Estate of M.A.Sholokhov. It is dedicated to the 95th anniversary of the wedding day of Mikhail Alexandrovich Sholokhov and Mariya Petrovna Sholokhova.

A press-conference dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the Upper Don insurrection and to the exhibition “Brothers, Do not Judge Your Brother…” which will open on March 11, in Sholokhov-Centre of the Museum-Reserve of M.A.Sholokhov, took place on February 28, 2019, in Rostov-on-Don, in the press-centre “Don-Media”. The journalists’ questions were answered by A.M.Sholokhov, Deputy Chairman of the Committee for Culture of the RF State Duma, A.A.Dmitriyeva, the Rostov Region Minister of Culture, and directors of the museums – organizers of the exhibition.
