The Estate of M.A. SholokhovMemory OrchardNear the house in the Memorial Estate of M.A.Sholokhov, there are trees planted by the writer himself. The pear-tree and Lombardy poplar are 60 now. In 1947, there was laid out a lilac alley leading from the gate to the main entrance of the house. The lilac cultivar is called “Mikhail Sholokhov”. The alley was restored early in the 1990s by the Museum workers. Late in the 1950s – early 1960s, the writer’s son Mikhail planted beautiful birches, pines and oaks. On the site of the “lower garden”, in 2000, short before the 95th anniversary of M.A.Sholokhov, a “Memory Garden” was laid out with participation of the representatives of the Moscow City-Hall, the Rostov Region Administration, literary museums of Russia, Don writers and actors who performed in the films made after the works by M.A.Sholokhov. |
