The Estate of M.A. Sholokhov

Memory Orchard

Near the house in the Memorial Estate of M.A.Sholokhov, there are trees planted by the writer himself. The pear-tree and Lombardy poplar are 60 now.

In 1947, a lilac alley leading from the gate to the main entrance of the house was laid out.

The lilac cultivar is called “Mikhail Sholokhov”. The alley was restored early in the 90-s by the Museum workers.

Late in the 50-s – early in the 60-s, the writer’s son Mikhail planted beautiful birches, pines and oaks.

On the site of the “lower garden”, in 2000, short before the 95th anniversary of M.A.Sholokhov, a Memory Garden was laid out with participation of the representatives of the Moscow City-Hall, Rostov Region Administration, literary museums of Russia, Don writers and actors who performed in the films screened after the works by M.A.Sholokhov.
