Folk Crafts

One of the activities of the National M.A.Sholokhov Museum-Reserve is revival, preservation, development and promotion of traditional folk arts and crafts as an integral part of the Upper Don culture.

The masters of the Department of Applied Arts give lessons of pottery, basket weaving and wood carving. The tourists make the articles by themselves and take them home as original souvenirs. The works of the Don masters can also be bought in the Museum “Souvenir Shop”.

The video catalogue will show you the technology of the Don arts and crafts typical for the Upper Don people late in the XIX – early in the XX centuries.
