Preservation of the Heritage of Cossacks in the Novy Urengoy

Sholokhov Museum-Reserve took part in the scientific-practical conference on the development of the Cossacks “Preservation of the historical, cultural and spiritual-moral heritage of the Cossacks in Russia at the present stage”, which was held on November 27, 2019 in Novy Urengoy, Yamal-Nenets Autonomous District.

Sholokhov Museum-Reserve, passed an interactive lesson for younger students on the Cossack courtyard of the late XIX - early XX centuries in the farm Kruzhilinsky. During this lesson the guys learned more about traditional Cossack cuisine.

On November 22, 2019, the exhibition “The World of Sholokhov: Don Cossacks” opened in the main library building of the University of St. Andrews (Scotland). It tells about the life and work of the great writer, about the culture and traditions of the Don Cossacks, about Mikhail Sholokhov.
National Sholokhov Museum-Reserve celebrates 35 years

More than once the employees of the Sholokhov Museum-Reserve, translating the next news material for the English version of site, faced an unusual problem. Say, the message says: "... the sightseers also saw the feather-grass-fescue steppe." It seems that everything is clear, but how can one say in English that the steppe is “feather grass-fescue”? There is no analogue! But there is such a steppe. It is in our area, there are the Don chalk mountains, deep gullies overgrown with forests, red bushes on sand dunes not only on the Sholokhov’s pages, there are islands of feather grass on untouched lands, there are, finally, Don rapids, which are familiar to readers around the world.
Exhibition “The Study and the World of the Writer” on Don Land

On November 20, 2019 in Rostov-on-Don the opening of the unique traveling exhibition “The Study and the World of the Writer” took place in the Don State Public Library. The National Sholokhov Museum-Reserve is the curator of this inter-museum exhibition project, which takes place under the auspices of the Association of Literary Museums of the Union of Museums of Russia.
We Tell Rostov Children about Traditions of Don Cossacks

In mid-November a series of classes and master classes was held in Rostov-on-Don, conducted by the staff of the National Sholokhov Museum-Reserve. Museum classes were designed for a wide audience. They were attended by pupils of senior and preparatory groups of kindergartens No. 74, No. 96 and students of schools No. 81, No. 91, No. 96.
National Sholokhov Museum-Reserve Expands Cooperation with museums of the Country

Sholokhov Museum-Reserve signed bilateral Cooperation Agreements with two museums: The State Museum-Monument "St. Isaac's Cathedral" and the Ulyanovsk Regional Museum of Local Lore named after Ivan Goncharov. The documents were signed in St. Petersburg on the sidelines of the VIII International Cultural Forum. Cooperation involves the implementation of joint partnership projects in the field of popularizing the achievements of culture and art, professional museum activities, the exchange of scientific information and experience, strengthening cultural ties between institutions, consolidating efforts in the formation of a common intellectual and information space.
