Exhibition “The Study and World of the Writer” in Shchelykovo

The Intermuseum exhibition project “The Study and World of the Writer”, which under the auspices of the Literary Museums Association of the Russian Museum Union was shown last year in seven museums of Russia, continues its run in “Shchelykovo”, the State Memorial and Natural Museum-Reserve of A.N.Ostrovskiy. The project curator is the National M.A.Sholokhov Museum-Reserve.
On a Frosty Epiphany Day…

On the eve of the feast of the Baptism of the Lord, an interactive museum class for the 5-form pupils of Kruzhilin Village secondary school was held in the Cossack Farmstead of the Museum-Reserve of M.A.Sholokhov. It was devoted to the folk traditions of celebrating Christmas, New Year and Epiphany.

70 Years Ago the Sholokhovs Moved into a New House at the Estate

On January 1940, the big and friendly Sholokhov family moved into a new house in the centre of Vyoshenskaya. It was built instead of the house with a mezzanine destroyed during the bombardment of Stanitsa Vyoshenskaya on July 8, 1942, and could not be restored.
The 95th Anniversary of the Sholokhovs’ Wedding Ceremony in Bukanovskaya Church

Today it is the 96th anniversary of the wedding ceremony of Mikhail Alexandrovich Sholokhov and Mariya Petrovna Sholokhova in Bukanovskaya Church of the Intercession of the Holy Virgin, which blessed them to have a long happy life together. On that day, January 11, 1924, the young couple registered their marriage in the Podtyolkov registry office (Stanitsa Kumylzhenskaya, the Khopyor Okrug the Tsaritsynsky Region).
Karghin School Named after M.A.Sholokhov is 55

55 years ago, on January 10, 1964, a new school was opened in Stanitsa Karghinskaya. The school was constructed on the money of the Lenin Prize won by M.A.Sholokhov for his novel “Virgin Soil Upturned”. In 2003, the school was named after the writer.
