On February 21, 1984, the earthly life of the great Russian writer, a Genius of the world literature, ended. The frosty winter day clothed the Don country in mourning. The sad news about the death of Mikhail Alexandrovich Sholokhov wounded the hearts of thousands admirers of his work; the country lost her faithful and devoted son. More than 30 years have passed since that time, but many residents of Vyoshenskaya clearly remember the moments of farewell to the Don Cossack glorifier.

A Recital “Dear to Me Immensely…” was held on February 19, in the Palace of Culture of Stanitsa Vyoshenskaya. It was devoted to the memory of Mikhail Sholokhov, the glorifier of the Don Cossacks.

On February days the admirers of the work of Mikhail Sholokhov bring fresh flowers to the writer’s monument at the River Don embankment and to his tomb. The Palace of Culture of Vyoshenskaya will held a recital devoted to the memory of the Don Cossack glorifier.

On February 18, “Sholokhov Centre” of the Museum-Reserve of M.A.Sholokhov in Rostov-on-Don started the run of the exhibition “When You Can’t but Write…” telling about the life and work of Leo Tolstoy, the great Russian writer.
