A bright page of “Children’s Sholokhov Spring” dedicated to the Year of Russian Cinema was a cinema lecture held on May 28, in the Excursion and Exhibition Centre “People’s House”. The lecture about Alexander Khanzhonkov, a businessman, cinematographer, the author of a number of the first Russian films, was given by Tatyana Omelchenko, a film producer, screenwriter, a member of the Ukrainian National Union of Journalists, director of the Donetsk Cultural Centre (the Donetsk People’s Republic).

The literary and folklore holiday “Sholokhov Spring” having the status of All-Russian holiday from 1987, and the status of international one from 1990, for the 31st time has gathered the admirers of the great writer’s work. A journalistic and artistic recital “Frames, Milestones and Dates are Flashing…” devoted to Sholokhov’s works in cinema took place on May 27, in the Palace of Culture in Stanitsa Vyoshenskaya.

According to the tradition it began with the literary and folklore holiday “Children’s Sholokhov Spring”, which on May 27, gathered young performers and guests in Stanitsa Karghinskaya, where the great writer spent his childhood and youth.

A grand meeting devoted to the 111th anniversary of Mikhail Sholokhov was held on May 24, in Moscow, at the monument to the writer in Volzhsky Boulevard. It was symbolic that the same day was celebrated the Day of Slavic Culture and Literature by the people of Russia.
