Meeting with the Wonderful World of Sholokhov’s Personages

28.05.2016

The literary and folklore holiday “Sholokhov Spring” having the status of All-Russian holiday from 1987, and the status of international one from 1990, for the 31st time has gathered the admirers of the great writer’s work. A journalistic and artistic recital “Frames, Milestones and Dates are Flashing…” devoted to Sholokhov’s works in cinema took place on May 27, in the Palace of Culture in Stanitsa Vyoshenskaya.

The theme was not chosen by chance, as it is the Year of Russian Cinema and the works of the great writer were filmed 19 times.

There were shown fragments of the films, where the well-known actors performed the roles of Sholokhov’s personages. These masterpieces represent a whole layer of the domestic cinema art. S.Gerasimov, A.Ivanov, S.Bondarchuk, P.Glebov, E.Bystritskaya, Z.Kiriyenko, L.Khityayeva, E.Matveyev, V.Shukshin are the names of brilliant film directors and actors, who embodied Sholokhov’s stories and novels, to be enumerated on and on.

Pavel Chernousov, the leader of the recital, telling about the richest filmography marked the leitmotif of his presentation: “Cinema Transferred the Wonderful World of Sholokhov’s Personages onto the Screen”.

A pleasant surprise for the holiday public was the greeting address of Zinaida Kiriyenko and Lyudmila Chursina, favourite actresses, who visited Vyoshenskaya before. They congratulated everyone on the holiday of “Sholokhov Spring”, said they were very sorry for being unable to take part in the holiday and noted that meeting with Sholokhov and his works was a landmark event for them both.

During the demonstration of a fragment from the film “The Quiet Don” an old Cossack song was heard, which was suddenly picked by the singers of the group “Volnitsa” on the stage. It turned out very symbolic, and the recital was followed by songs and dances dedicated to the birthday of M.A.Sholokhov.

The concert was joined by the singers and dancers from Lugansk, Rostov-on-Don, Astrakhan, Stanitsa Bokovskaya and from Kalmykia.

The recital was over, but the program of “Sholokhov Spring” continued on the central stage with the performance of the youth Cossack groups at the folklore festival “In Our Country of the Don”. The audience was entertained with songs, dances, reciting poetry and abstracts from the works by M.A.Sholokhov.
