In early August, the employees of the Museum-Reserve of M.A. Sholokhov told the children attending the health camp of the Sholokhov District children and youth sports school about the rich coastal aquatic vegetation, about the way Cossacks used water bodies in everyday life and about the fishing rules they had.

Today is Memory Day of Russian soldiers died in the First World War (1914 – 1918). M.A.Sholokhov on the pages of his novel “And Quiet Flows the Don” paid tribute to those, who did not return from the battlefields of that war, having found for this the words full of deep sorrow: “The stanitsas and villages in the Don region got depopulated, as if the whole Don country came out for a mowing, hay making campaign.

Field Camps of the Upper Don Pre-Military Cossacks

During August 5–8, 2019, summer field camps of the Upper Don pre-military Cossacks will take place at the Farmstead of T.A.Karghin in Stanitsa Karghinskaya the Bokovsky District. For the third time the Museum-Reserve of M.A.Sholokhov receives on its territory the members of the field camps organized by the military Cossack society “The Great Don Army.”
“Musical Summer in Konstantinovo”

The National M.A.Sholokhov Museum-Reserve took part in the annual project “Musical Summer in Konstantinovo” which is devoted this year to Cossack culture. The project culmination was the holiday timed to the birthday of the State S.A.Yesenin Museum-Reserve, which was held on July 27, 2019.

It is difficult to imagine, but on July 25, 2019, Vasily Makarovich Shukshin, an actor, film director and writer, would be 90. We can only follow Sholokhov in lamentation with the great pity: “He would be able to do a lot more…”, if he lived these years. Though who can say, how the Altai natural talent could manage those “underlived” 45 years. Sometimes age and efficiency come into severe conflict with each other. But anyway, it would be enough for completing conceived by him and long-time exciting project – filming his novel “I’ve Come to Give You Freedom…” It was to be enough. For the cherished dream was most probably powerful. But…everything goes exactly according to Hemingway: “The world kills the best…”
