Memorial Medal from Bulgaria
A souvenir medal “1300 Years of Bulgaria” is kept in the collection of the National M.A.Sholokhov Museum-Reserve. It was issued to honour the joint space flight of the USSR and the People’s Republic of Bulgaria, which started on April, 10, 1979.
On June, 10, 1983, Sholokhov received a delegation of the Soviet and Bulgarian members of the Youth Friendship Festival in his house in Vyoshenskaya. The delegation included a Bulgarian cosmonaut-researcher Georgy Ivanov and a Soviet cosmonaut, twice Hero of the Soviet Union, Nikolay Nikolayevich Rukavishnikov, the members of the international space crew “Soyuz-33”. The cosmonauts presented the writer with a gift of this souvenir medal with an inscription on the case: “To Mikhail Alexandrovich Sholokhov from the crew of the spaceship “Soyuz-33” 10.06.83”.
