“Sholokhov Spring”

The All-Russian literary-folklore holiday “Sholokhov Spring” took place in the Upper Don country, on May, 25-27,2012, with the support of the Russian Federation Ministry of Culture. It gathered over two hundred folk groups from different parts of Russia and foreign countries as well as thousands of admirers of the great writer’s literary art, all those who are interested in the life and culture of the Don Cossacks and are fond of the genuine people’s art.

On this day, May, 24, 107 years ago, the great Russian writer Mikhail Sholokhov was born. Now the name of Sholokhov is one of the best-known and attractive. Both in the XX century and at the beginning of the XXI century he is still one of the leading genuine people’s writers. Sholokhov is rightly called a chronicler of his native country.

An exhibition “Tales of A.S. Pushkin” is going to open on the days of the all-Russian literary and ethnographic festivity “Sholokhov Spring” in Stanitsa Vyoshenskaya, in the Excursion-Exhibition Centre “The People’s House” of the National Sholokhov Museum-Reserve. The exhibition is laid out by the biggest Pushkin Museum of Russia – the State A.S. Pushkin Museum in Moscow.
