Educational Programs

“Traditional Crafts of the Upper Don Cossacks”

A program of general education on the subject of “Technology” for the middle-level students of secondary comprehensive schools (developed in cooperation with the “Sholokhov School” of Stanitsa Vyoshenskaya).

At the lessons the schoolchildren will learn about the sources of the Don Cossack arts and crafts, and their role in the life of Cossacks; they will train methods and skills of traditional processing of natural materials (withe and clay).

The purpose of the program is to form in adolescents a complete perception of the folk arts as a part of the Don culture, to develop their artistic and creative abilities, to form an idea of the folk masters as carriers of collective experience and as creative personalities spiritually connected with the culture and nature of the Don.
