The Stables

Don Cossack are known to be sporty horsemen and horse experts. At the stable of the State M.A. Sholokhov Museum-Reserve one can learn about the Don horse breeding traditions and a Cossack tenor of life, of which a horse was an integral part, a devoted friend of a Cossack. Here the visitors can see real Don runners and try themselves in the role of  horsemen.

The first four horses were brought in in 2004. Now in the stable there are 14 horses of the Budyonnovskaya, Trakenen, Orlovskiy Trotter and Russian Arden breeds as well as a pony of the Shetland breed. The Budyonnovskaya breed is preferred, it is created from the Donskaya breed in the process of careful selection.

The stable has a paddock and a riding-hall. The visitors are offered training skills in horse maintenance, horse tourist itineraries, visiting set out and show performances.

In the coach-house there are coaches of different times. Here one can see a Cossack break, a 12-seated driving coach, one-horse sledges, a machine-gun cart of the Civil war time. The tourists are invited for excursions in the driving coach and in the machine-gun cart.
