A Manuscript. M.A. Sholokhov. “They Fought for Their Country”
“And if we cherish love for our Country in our hearts and keep it as long as our hearts beat, we always bear our hatred for enemies on the tips of our bayonets”, - these remarkable words of M.A. Sholokhov, prefaced to the book to determine its contests, is a dedication to the heroic exploit of the Soviet people in the Great Patriotic war.
The novel was conceived as trilogy. But not even a volume was finished. Different chapters are collected under one cover. These chapters were published in different time (from 1943) and have still remained the chapters of the unwritten novel-epic.
