A Palekh Portrait of M.A. Sholokhov
A portrait of M.A. Sholokhov, made in 2005 by an old artist A.S. Krivtsova was donated by her to the State M.A. Sholokhov Museum-Reserve. Anna Semyonovna succeeded in creating, even after a photograph, a really living and warm image.
The new portrait of the writer had already been laid out in Palekh at the jubilee exhibition of the artist and was appreciated by the viewers.
A.S. Krivtsova painted the writer’s portraits many times. In the 60-s already she made his miniature portrait. Mikhail Alexandrovich smiling looks from the plate: his refractory hair, penetrating eyes… And just here there are scenes of kolkhoz life from the novel “Virgin Soil Upturned”.
One more Sholokhov’s portrait made in 2000 is kept in the State Museum of Palekh Art and is exhibited now. The writer is shown here wearing his strict suit, his look is serious and thoughtful.
The creative work of the artist was highly praised, she was awarded a memorial medal “For the 100th anniversary of M.A. Sholokhov”.
