A coffee maker made by the AEG company was presented to M.A.Sholokhov by his friend, A.A.Borodavkin.

The writer made friends with Alexey Alexandrovich Borodavkin in the 1960-s. They got acquainted in 1962, in the Soviet Embassy in Helsinki, where Borodavkin was invited as an interpreter for the meeting of Sholokhov with the Finnish writer and satirist Martti Larni.

Borodavkin recalled: “The meeting passed in a warm atmosphere and at the end of it Sholokhov invited Larni and his wife to visit him in Vyoshenskaya. He asked me if I wanted to come with Larni as an interpreter. I was glad to receive the invitation. Since then, our friendship with the writer and his family had begun…”

The friends often met in Moscow, on the Sholokhovs’ invitation the Borodavkins came on a visit to Vyoshenskaya; they rested together in Kazakhstan, went hunting and fishing.

In one of the meetings, in 1964, this coffee maker of the German AEG company was presented to the writer, as his younger daughter, Mariya Mikhailovna, recalled.
