News“Christmas Stories” in “Sholokhov-Centre”24.12.2015“Sholokhov-Centre” of the Museum-Reserve of M.A.Sholokhov started the project “Christmas Stories”, which shows the exhibitions “Orenburg Downy Shawl” from the Orenburg Museum of Fine Arts and “Everywhere Ask for…” (History of the Russian State in a Candy Wrapper)” from the Museum of Chocolate and Cocoa History (Moscow). The Orenburg downy shawl is known all over the world as a part of the all-Russian cultural heritage. The visitors of the exhibition will see the best knitters’ works, which reflect the artistic peculiarities of the articles characteristic of the world-known fine-wool-knitting craft, will learn about the unique peculiarities of the fine wool of the goats of local breeds and will be able to buy beautiful and warm headscarves and shawls. The exhibition will reveal secrets of the Orenburg knitters who carry out all the shawl manufacturing operations manually as it was 200 years ago. Also, widely known is chocolate, which is narrated about at the exhibition “Everywhere Ask for…” (History of the Russian State in a Candy Wrapper)”, which is presented by the Museum of Chocolate and Cocoa History “MISHKA”. The visitors will learn the history of chocolate from the roots of its appearance in the lands of ancient Maya in Mexico, Guatemala and Honduras up to the present, will know many interesting things about the development stages of the production of chocolate delicacies in Russia, about the history of wrapping art. The exhibits displayed by the “MISHKA” shows the centuries-old Russian history. The visitors will see candy wrappings of the famous Russian confectionary factories and chocolate makers, will learn about the wonderful world of kings of confectionary business, who make children and grown-ups happy, and about the various kinds of chocolate production. Besides, the visitors are invited to take part in the fascinating master-classes, games and competitions.
