The exhibition project showing the exhibits from more than 20 state and private collections including the National M.A.Sholokhov Museum-Reserve tells about the development of typewriting in Russia on the background of the artistic and political events of the XX century. Among the exhibits displayed the visitors will see a typewriter “Remington” (the 1920-s), which M.A.Sholokhov bought on his writer’s fee received for his book of early short stories “Tales from the Don”. As well, there are manuscripts of the writer and his photo portrait (by photographer V.Tyomin, 1936). The museum area is divided into several thematic zones, where the typewriter is a fashionable design object, an instrument of creation of the work of literature, an art-object, and typewriting as a simple information carrier, an object of cult, pursuit and an artistic tool.
The exhibition runs till March, 13, in the Moscow Museum of Modern Art, in Moscow, 25, Petrovka.
