The Winners of the Relay Quiz “Forest Tier” are Announced

The National M.A.Sholokhov Museum-Reserve jointly with the Novocherkassk A.K.Kortunov Engineering and Reclamation Institute of the Don State Agrarian University held a relay quiz “Forest Tier” on October, 2, 2015. It was entered by 10 school teams from the Rostov and Voronezh regions.

The teams were welcomed by O.A.Anistratenko, Deputy Director of the Museum-Reserve of M.A.Sholokhov, N.V.Ivanisova, Director of the Don Minor Forestry Academy, L.V.Kurinskaya, Deputy Dean on Research Work of the Reasearch Institute, E.F.Zotiyev, a veteran of forestry management.

T.Y.Turchin, Deputy Director of he Museum-Reserve of M.A.Sholokhov, Doctor of Agricultural Sciences, made a talk about the forest for the children. During the relay-quiz the students did the contest assignments: they described the main components of the plants, determined the main parameters of the growing stock, species diversity of forest birds, then took part in planting tree seedlings in the forest territory of “Sholokhov Source”. Just there an opening ceremony of the guide reflecting the geography of the members of the forest massive laying out   took place. The members came from almost all parts of Russia and a number of near foreign countries and West European countries.

The winners were announced and awarded personal certificates of the Research Institute, which provide advantages for studies in this institution. All the participants of the relay-quiz were handed Letters of Thanks and gifts. Besides, the children were invited to take part in the contest of research works by correspondence within the frames of the XVII rally of the children and youth environmental movement “Sholokhov Source”.
