A Commemorative Plaque in Honour of Sholokhov is Opened in Starocherkasskaya

On May, 21, in the Starocherkassk Historical and Architectural Museum-Reserve, a commemorative plaque in honour of Mikhail Alexandrovich Sholokhov, initiator of the museum establishment in 1970, is opened. The author of the commemorative plaque is sculptor S.M.Isakov, Member of the Russian Union of Artists. At the opening ceremony a welcoming speech was made by Alexander Mikhailovich Sholokhov, Director of the National M.A.Sholokhov Museum-Reserve.

Before the 110th anniversary of Mikhail Alexandrovich Sholokhov, which is celebrated on May, 24, 2015, the Presidential B.N.Eltsyn Library presented on the portal rare materials revealing the depth of the writer’s personality and the magnitude of his art. The book collection of Sholokhov’s works includes lifetime editions of the writer’s works, literary studies and his photo portraits.

The exhibition “Traces of Cossack Old Times…” Russian Cossacks in cultural monuments of the XVIII–XX centuries from the collection of the State Hermitage” is going to open on May, 22, in Rostov-on-Don, in the halls of the Museum-Reserve of M.A.Sholokhov (125/69 Bolshaya Sadovaya). We are glad to provide new exhibition halls for the main museum of the country, we are glad that namely this exhibition opens the exhibition activity of “Sholokhov-Centre”. We are particularly delighted that the event takes place on the days of the 110th anniversary of M.A.Sholokhov and in the Year of Literature.
