Sholokhov Museum Presentation Took Place in Uglich

On December, 9–11, in Uglich, there was held the II Congress of Small Town Mayors themed “Small Towns – to the Year of Culture”, which was attended by V.V.Sholokhova, Head of the Museum Development Department of the National M.A.Sholokhov Museum-Reserve. The congress was organized by the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation jointly with the Association of the Small Tourist Towns.

About 100 participants from 66 towns of the Russian Federation gathered to discuss an important subject of integrated urban development in the tourist destination.

Opening the plenary session Olga Yarilova, Director of the Tourism and Regional Policy Department of the Russian Ministry of Culture, said: ”The basic ideology of the Year of Culture is formation of the new approach to culture as a sphere of priority in the socio-economic development of the state. It is very important for us to know what is going on in the towns and regions, in each institution, and what is happening in the mood of the people serving to culture. And not only in our capitals and big regional centres. But especially in villages and small towns”.

The presentation of the Museum-Reserve of M.A.Sholokhov “The Influence of the City-Forming Museums on the Development of the Small Town” was a success at the conference and was interesting for the congress participants.
