Exhibition “The Don. Sholokhov. Russia” in Belgorod Country

On September, 28, the Museum of Battle Glory of the Third Battlefield of Russia – the State Military-Historical Museum-Reserve “Prokhorovskoye Pole” opened the exhibition ”The Don. Sholokhov. Russia” presented by the State M.A.Sholokhov Museum-Reserve.

The Museum-Reserve “Prokhorovskoye Pole” is a big dynamically developing museum centre, which is All-Russian National Complex of preservation and spreading of the historical memory of one of the most important and key battles of the Great Patriotic war and the Second World war. On the Museum-Reserve area of 6 thousand ha there are 20 memorials and memorial sites. Among them is the Museum of Battle Glory which structure comprises three independent expositioins: military-historical exposition taking a central place in the museum building; an exhibition of arms and civil engineering in the open air; architectural and sculptural ensemble. Annual attendance rate of the museum is about 100 000 visitors. Since its opening, the museum has become an especially honoured place for visitors, an activity area for regional events and a symbol of Belgorod country.

The Museum-Reserve of M.A.Sholokhov could not but accept the invitation for opening an exhibition in such a sacred place for our country as Prokhorovskoye Pole, the place associated with the values of the national culture, which are historically important for the destinies of the country and the people.

The exhibition “The Don. Sholokhov. Russia” will tell the visitors more about the writer, about the significance of his literary heritage for the culture of Russia and the world, about the Don country, the history and traditions of the Cossacks. The exposition features more than 300 exhibits, which are mostly originals.

The opening ceremony of the exhibition was participated by children and youth amateur art groups from Belgorod, representatives of the local Cossack community.

The exhibition “The Don. Sholokhov. Russia” will work in Prokhorovka Village from September, 28, till November, 15, 2012.
