The Action “Roads of the War” Started

01.10.2012

On September, 28, 2012, in Stanitsa Vyoshenskaya, a youth action “Roads of the War” started to be held in several stages. The event was conceived and carried out jointly with the State M.A. Sholokhov Museum-Reserve, the Sholokhov District Education Department, district schools, to strengthen patriotic education of youth.

The event took place at the River Don embankment, it was joined by senior schoolchildren, veterans of the Great Patriotic war.

The public was greeted by the head of the Sholokhov District O.N. Delnov, the head of the District Education Department V.V. Shelemekh, the chairman of the District Council of Veterans V.N. Kruglov, a scientific secretary of the State M.A. Sholokhov Museum-Reserve L.A.Akolzina, a veteran of War and Armed Forces P.A. Zabralov.

The young people performed a composition about the 70-year-old events, when the German fascist invaders and their satellites captured the right bank of the Don opposite Stanitsa Vyoshenskaya. The old Cossack river was a front line, airstrikes and shelling started to go on for about six months. Thereafter, from Vyoshenskaya, which was not captured, a wide liberation of the Rostov Region began. The schoolchildren dedicated poems and songs to those tragic and heroic days, reproduced excerpts of memoirs of the participants in those terrible events.

In memory of the war victims a wreath was let down on the Don water.

The event attracted young people and adults who came to the embankment.

The next stage of the event will take place in Andropovsky Village and will be dedicated to the heroic war episode of crossing the river Don and capturing the most important military bridgehead on the right bank of the Don by the Soviet Army in Elanskaya, in 1942.
