NewsThe ICOM Members Visited Stanitsa Vyoshenskaya03.09.2009Organization of different forums on the base of the State M.A. Sholokhov Museum-Reserve and with its participation has become traditional. The members of the two simultaneous conferences with the agenda bearing similar problems, brought the conference work to a successful issue on the land of Vyoshenskaya last week. The annual conference of the ICOM International Committee on the museum marketing and PR “Museums and Tourism” which held a working session in Moscow and Yasnaya Polyana from 22 till 26 of August, 2009, sent then its representatives to Stanitsa Vyoshenskaya, where they were offered a cultural program. The museum workers from different countries of the world visited practically all the memorial sites of the State M.A. Sholokhov Museum-Reserve, went sightseeing about the memorial places of Stanitsa Vyoshenskaya, visited natural sights, had a pleasure boat trip along the Don. The guests also attended the museum stable vividly displaying the elements of the traditional Cossack service. Many of the visitors – Romina Mancouso from Italy, Paal Mork from Norway, Simona Yurakova from Chekhia, Kirstine Skit from Barbados, Caroline Zdravic from Slovenia and others – came here for the first time and were sincerely amazed at everything what was done for preserving the cultural space of “the Quiet Don”. In sightseeing of the memorial and natural sites the guests – the members of the International Council of Museums were accompanied and given commentaries by the director of the Museum-Reserve A.M.
