Patriotic and Anti-War Education Project

The project is aimed at developing in the younger generation a sense of love for their country, readiness to exploit for the love of it and aspiration of taking care of the public benefit. Now these qualities have become particularly popular.

The project is based on the studies of the documents on the Don region history, the materials on the war biography of the great Russian writer and patriot Mikhail Sholokhov, his frontline essays and works about the Great Patriotic war. The Sholokhov Museum and schools lay out exhibitions about the life and work of the writer, about the countrymen soldiers, veterans of the Great Patriotic war, hold meetings with the war veterans and eyewitnesses of the frontline days. The Museum exhibitions and classes are attended by children, their parents and grandparents. Such a dialogue of generations is very valuable.

The Museum-Reserve works jointly with the Rostov Region Ministry of Education, schools of the northern districts of the Don region, Rostov Regional Museum of Fine Arts, Gukovo Museum of Miners’ Labour, Moscow M.Balakirev School of Arts, the “Parnas” TV studio from Donetsk (Ukrain), Sholokhov Museum in Daryinskoye Village (Kazakhstan) and other institutions and organizations aiming at patriotic education of children and youth, revival of interest for the history of our country and its heroes, for the events of the Great Patriotic war and its insufficiently explored pages.

The materials of the project “The Memory of the War has United Us” will be published in the collection book “Sholokhov Museum for Children” and will be submitted to the contest “Fatherland”, which is held by the all-Russian movement of young tourists and local historians.
