Educational Programs

“Local History”

A program of supplementary education for the children of primary parochial school.

The museum forms provide expanding knowledge of the children about the Don Cossack history, Stanitsa Vyoshenskaya, the life and work of the great Russian writer M.A.Sholokhov and his attitude to Orthodoxy. At the lessons the children will get a deeper knowledge of Sholokhov’s works, will read again the short story “Bastard” and an excerpt “Fedotka” from the novel “Virgin Soil Upturned” and will join the class of arts and crafts.

A program of supplementary education for the middle-level students of secondary comprehensive schools.

Schoolchildren will learn about the ethnic and cultural features of the region, the foundation history of Stanitsa Vyoshenskaya, the origin of its name, typical characteristics and the interior of the dwellings, kinds of traditional Don Cossack clothes and their making techniques, the peculiarities of the Cossack cuisine and the dishes which were cooked in the Sholokhovs’family; they will also learn about the Don region folklore and traditions of popular festivities.

A secondary education program of “Local History” for middle-level students of secondary comprehensive schools (developed jointly with the Rostov-on-Don secondary school “Evrika-Razvitiye”).

At the lessons the students will enlarge their knowledge of history, culture and traditions of the Don region, deepen their studies in the biography and art of the great Russian writer M.A.Sholokhov, explore the ways of working with the museum material and get acquainted with the peculiarities of the guide profession.
