In Memory of Maria Sholohova

January 20 is a Memorial Day for Maria Sholokhova, the wife of the writer. Members of the writer’s family, museum staff, residents of the village of Vyoshenskaya came to honor her memory and lay flowers on the grave.

450th Anniversary of the Don Army

In 2020, the 450th anniversary of the Don Army is celebrated. The starting point for the creation of the Great Don Army is a letter to the Don Cossacks, sent by Tsar Ivan IV the Terrible on January 16 (January 3 according to the old style) in 1570.

Sholokhov Museum-Reserve from January 8 to 10, 2020 was visited by Russian politicians: First Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Ecology and Environmental Protection Nikolai Sergeyevich Valuev and Deputy Head of the “United Russia” of the State Duma apparatus in the State Duma Ilya Ananiev. Guided tours were conducted by the grandson of the writer, First Deputy Chairman of the Committee on Culture of the State Duma of the Russian Federation Alexander Mikhailovich Sholokhov.
