“Kruzhilin Backwater” Welcomes Guests!

19.08.2019

On September 8, an educational and entertaining area “Kruzhilin Backwater” will be held at the jubilee literary and ethnographic holiday “Kruzhilin Toloki”.

Do you know what do “prituga”,”sadnya”, “kayuk” mean? These are the words the Upper Don Cossacks used to call a homemade fishing rod, a device for keeping safe the living fish caught and a small boat hollowed out of a solid tree trunk (willow or poplar). In the area, the visitors will learn about the traditional ways of making them in the Don region. Everyone will be able to try to make independently a fishing rod or weave a sadnya, and the young visitors will have an opportunity to show their dexterity in fishing out using a prituga, as the heroes of Sholokhov’s works did.

Among the many entertainments of the holiday, at the guests’ request, a “Watermelon Bowling” will take place again in the area. All the comers of any age can show their accuracy in knocking down the pins with “striped balls”.

We invite guests and participants to visit the “Kruzhilin Backwater”!
