Sholokhov Visiting Sergeyev-Tsensky

14.08.2019

On August 16, in Alushta, the Museum of S.N.Sergeyev-Tsensky opens an exhibition “Sholokhov. The Nobel Triumph” telling about the life and work of the writer, his main work – the novel “And Quiet Flows the Don”.

The life and work of Mikhail Sholokhov are closely related to the Don. Here he was born and lived, here there is the homeland of the protagonist of Sholokhov’s books – the Upper Don Cossacks. This is the land where the events he told about to the whole world took place. The pictures by the photographer K.G. Pashinyan will tell about the beauty of the Don land. The costumes of Cossack men and women of the early twentieth century, as well as a model of the Cossack farmstead, will show the visitors the traditional Cossack culture. The manuscripts, letters and other documents will tell about the writer's work.

A high international appreciation of the writer's work was expressed in awarding him the Nobel Prize in 1965. One of the sections of the exhibition will be devoted to this event. The visitors will be shown a documentary about the award presentation and get acquainted with the accompanying documents.

The exhibition will run in the exhibition halls of the Museum-Estate of A.N. Beketov from August 16, to September 16, 2019.
