You are Welcome to Join Us for “Fishing Outing with M.A.Sholokhov”!

On September 8, 2019, the day of the anniversary literary and ethnographic holiday “Kruzhilin Toloki”, a unique exhibition “Fishing Outing with M.A.Sholokhov” will be shown at the parental estate of the writer. 

Fishing was one of the favourite kinds of recreation of M.A.Sholokhov. It gave him inspiration and strength to create new works. As the writer said, among the wildlife, by the water, he could think well.

The visitors will be immersed in the atmosphere of a real fishing camp. They will see Sholokhov’s birch fishing rods, a landing net, a sadnya, and other genuine things from the museum collection, rare photographs from the archives of the writer’s family, footage from the pre-war film “Along the Quiet Don” telling about the outings of the Sholokhovs. The guests will learn which of the writer’s family was the most avid fisherman, where the Sholokhovs liked to go fishing, what dishes they prepared outdoors.

Everyone will have a unique opportunity to take a photo for memory in the photo area “With the Writer by the Fisher’s Fire”. Like M.A. Sholokhov, who, while on vacation, often sent letters to his family, the visitors can send a theme card to their family and friends right from the holiday. For this purpose, a post box will be specially installed at the exhibition.
