Discover “Secrets of the Old Mill”!

An informative game “Secrets of the Old Mill” will be a real adventure for the young visitors of the literary ethnographic holiday “Karghin Fair on Intercession Days” on October 7, 2018. During the game the schoolchildren will learn about the traditions of the old Cossack fair held on the days of celebration the holiday of the 12th Cossack Regiment, about the history of flour production business in the Don region, about Karghin country, where M.A.Sholokhov spent his childhood and youth.

The game route will run about the farmstead of T.A.Karghin of the Museum-Reserve of M.A.Sholokhov. The children will get into the atmosphere of a Cossack fair, will hear the legend about the quick-witted miller, who lived in Karghin Village early in the past century, and will do the tasks in order to guess “Secrets of the Old Mill”. The children will need intuition, resourcefulness and knowledge of the history of the Don Cossack country.

The players will go along the shopping booths, attend the barn, the cinematograph “Ideal”, will see a new bridge over the River Chir and will learn many new and interesting things. At the final stage they will learn about the technology of flour production on a roll mill and will understand why Cossacks cherished bread so much.
