NewsIceland Ambassador Visited Sholokhov-Centre29.06.2018Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Iceland in the Russian Federation, Berglind Asgeirsdottir, on June 27, 2018, visited Sholokhov-Centre of the National M.A.Sholokhov Museum-Reserve. Mrs. Ambassador and her party made an excursion around the exhibition “The Don.Sholokhov.Russia” telling about the life and work of the great writer and learned about the culture and traditions of the Don Cossacks, the hero of Sholokhov’s works. Joining the interactive and cultural-educational program “Cossack Village” Berglind Asgeirsdottir and her compatriots learned about the features of pottery business in the Don area, tried how to grind grains on the millstones, had the photos taken for memory in the interior of the old photo studio and sent postcards “With Love from Russia” to Iceland. The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Iceland in the Russian Federation underlined that the Icelanders came to Rostov not only because of football, but on desire to see Rostov, learn about it and its residents and sights. She said the World Cup organization was “fantastic” and noted the event to be stimulating for tourism and business between the countries. Before visiting the Museum, on June 26, Berglind Asgeirsdottir attended the match between the teams of Iceland and Croatia at the stadium “Rostov Arena”. The game ended to score 1:2 in favour of the Croats and was the last for the Iceland team in the World Cup-2018. The match was visited by over 2000 Iceland fans. |
