NewsMeeting for the Memory of N.A.Bulavin, the Museum Founder01.12.2017On November 29, 2017, a meeting for the memory of Nikolay Alexandrovich Bulavin, the first director of the National M.A.Sholokhov Museum-Reserve, took place in the Excursion and Exhibition Centre “People’s House”. The museum workers, who have been creating “the unique literary and memorial museum” thanks to their diligence, solidarity and professionalism since 1984, gathered in the improvised study of Nikolay Alexandrovich. In a warm friendly talk over tea, they remembered the first departments created, expeditions to Stanitsa Bukanovskaya and Stanitsa Kumylzhenskaya, to the towns of Boguchar, Frolovo, Uryupinsk, where the materials about the life and work of M.A.Sholokhov, and about the Cossack history were collected. They remembered about the restoration and reconstruction works carried out in the house of the former male gymnasium to create the Literary Exhibition “M.A.Sholokhov. The Life and Work” and how the house in 103 Sholokhov Street was reconstructed with full preservation of memorial features. They spoke about making the first topographic inventory of personal belongings, furniture, tableware and presents of Mikhail Alexandrovich transferred to the museum collections by the writer's family. The guests told interesting stories and episodes from life – following one another during the whole evening. As the main thing, it was noted the long way covered within a short time by the Museum, by all the museum workers guided by Nikolay Alexandrovich. During the three years’ work, Bulavin opened the main memorial structures of the Museum, he simultaneously dealt with the housing issues of his subordinates. Thus, 14 families of the Museum employees received apartments at that time. The teachers and students of Vyoshenskaya School of Arts – T.Zaitseva, M.Khizhkin, P.Zakharova and N.Galitsyn – created a special atmosphere of the meeting with their performance. In conclusion, the director of the Museum Olga Alexandrovna Anistratenko underlined that even today, the most part of the plans formed by Bulavin has been the basis of the Museum-Reserve development.
