The Best Christmas Present

On January, 8, the People’s House of the Museum-Reserve of M.A.Sholokhov arranged a holiday “Christmas Tree” for children and adults.

A bright holiday of Christmas is a holiday for all Orthodox Christians. Its origins go back to centuries. It is a kind tradition giving hope for renewal and light even in a fierce winter. On this day old and young come together to share the good and joy. Christmas tree symbolizes a bright spiritual sense leading people to faith and victory of the Good over the Evil.

The holiday makers enjoyed the program prepared by the teachers and students of the parochial and Sabbath schools of Vyoshenskaya parish jointly with the Museum-Reserve. The children and adults once again remembered about the greatest event which took pace many centuries ago and learned why the spruce has become a traditional Christmas tree.

The audience was entertained with a theatrical performance about the birth of Jesus Christ and listened to Christmas carols. As in ancient times, the children performed a round dance near the decorated New Year tree, sang Christmas carols and played games together with Father Frost and Snow Girl, recited poems and received sweet presents.
