A New Issue of the Journal “Mir Sholokhova” is Published

Before the 110^th anniversary of the great writer a new issue of the scientific and educational national journal “Mir Sholokhova” (The World of Sholokhov) is published. The founder of the journal is the National M.A.Sholokhov Museum-Reserve.

The jubilee issue of the journal “Mir Sholokhova” presents the articles and materials intended for the professional philologists and a wide public. In the section “Literary Studies” E.Kostin investigates the problem of phenomenology of Russian speech in the works by L.N.Tolstoy, F.M.Dostoyevsky and M.A.Sholokhov; O.Golotvina (Riga, Latvia) reveals a typological proximity of the personages of M.A.Sholokhov and F.A.Abramov; a Chinese scholar Lyu Yadin writes about the perception of the personality and work of M.A.Sholokhov in the Soviet Union and in modern Russia; L.G.Satarova (Lipetsk) analyzes the features of depicting the First World War in the works by P.Krasnov and F.Kryukov; A.A.Anikin (Moscow) devoted his article to the style of S.N.Durylin, one of the outstanding writers of the Silver Age.

For the first time, an article by Robert Daglish, who translated into English the novel “And Quiet Flows the Don”, is published in Russian. In the section “Philosophy.History.Aesthetics” the reader will be attracted by the paper of A.L.Kazin (Saint-Petersburg) “Faith and Creative Work in the Era of Changes” about the fate of Russian culture in the XX century. In the section “Classics of Sholokhov Studies” there is the famous article by P.V.Paliyevsky “The World Significance of Sholokhov” first published in 1974, in the journal “Nash Sovremennik” (Our Contemporary). The archival materials are presented in the form of a shorthand record of the meeting of M.A.Sholokhov with Moscow writers in February of 1933.

In the third issue of the journal there are the materials by V.Y.Kurbatov, E.A.Kostin and Y.A.Dvoryashin, devoted to the memory of deceased V.G.Rasputin, the writer, who always distinguished Sholokhov among his creative teachers, member of the Editorial Board of the journal “Mir Sholokhova”, and a shorthand record of the speech of Valentin Grigoryevich to the students and teachers of the Surgut University in March of 2004.
