To Schoolchildren about Gagarin

On the eve of the Space Day, which is marked on April, 12, the classes “M.A.Sholokhov and Y.A.Gagarin” were held for the 5^th form students in the Memorial House at the Estate of M.A.Sholokhov.

On the day of the flight of Y.A.Gagarin into space M.A.Sholokhov sent a telegram: “It is great! And you can’t say anything being rendered speechless with admiration and pride at the fantastic success of our native science”. And in the summer of 1967, the first cosmonaut visited Stanitsa Vyoshenskaya.

The schoolchildren watched the film about the space flight of Gagarin, listened to the story about the visit of the First Cosmonaut to the Don country, about his meeting with M.A.Sholokhov and residents of the stanitsa, they saw photographs from the museum collection, visited the garage, where they saw the car GAZ-21 “Volga”, with which the writer met Y.Gagarin.

In one of his interviews after this visit Y.Gagarin remembered:

“…The meetings with Mikhail Alexandrovich produced a lasting impression upon me. He is full of warmth and friendliness. You feel at ease from the first phrase. You seem to have been his friend for long, and he has known all your life for a long time. <…> The depth of his penetration into the human souls is boundless.
