The Don Public Library will Open the Exhibition “Don. Sholokhov. Russia”

On April, 22, the exhibition hall of the Don State Public Library will start a run of the photo exhibition “Don. Sholokhov. Russia” presented by the Museum-Reserve of M.A.Sholokhov and dedicated to the 110^th anniversary of the writer.

The Museum-Reserve has a rich collection of photo documents depicting different stages in the life and work of M.A.Sholokhov. Some of the pictures show Mikhail Alexandrovich with prominent politicians, figures of literature and art, others show the writer at home, in Vyoshenskaya, in his study, with his family, at rest and talking with his countrymen. The descendants of M.A.Sholokhov handed over many family photo relics of different years to the Museum.

Examining the photos we learn about the circle of the writer’s friends in his childhood, youth and adulthood, about individual personalities and the families of his friends and relatives. These photographs have become a history, and studying them carefully we can understand the soul, nature and personality of the great writer.

A part of the exhibition is devoted to Stanitsa Vyoshenskaya and its memorial sites. The visitors will see the beauty and grandeur of the Don nature, originality of Cossack kurens and feel warm-heartedness of the people living in Sholokhov land. Many of the pictures captivate the viewers with their lyrical mood, sincerity and give a feeling of visiting Mikhail Alexandrovich Sholokhov.

The exhibition will run until May, 20, 2015.
