The Session of the ICOM Presidium of Russia in Kemerovo

23.03.2015

A visiting session of the International Council of Museums (ICOM) of Russia was held in Kemerovo on March, 17–19. It was joined by A.M.Sholokhov, Director of the National M.A.Sholokhov Museum-Reserve.

The representatives of the leading museums of Russia discussed the regional component of the Fundamentals of the State Cultural Policy, problems common to all museums and the ways of their solution. The problems of museum business development, exhibition activity and strengthening links between the institutions of culture and education in different regions were enthusiastically discussed.

Telling his colleagues about his creative plans, about the features of the Year of Literature in the Rostov Region A.M.Sholokhov noted: “In 2015, it is the 110th anniversary of Mikhail Sholokhov and the 50th anniversary of awarding him the Nobel Prize, which will be widely celebrated. And I am particularly pleased to realize my old dream of holding an exhibition “Sholokhov and Hemingway” jointly with our Cuban partners. These figures have a lot in common: they are almost coevals, both they are Nobel Prize winners, went through a war and the main theme of their works was man under inhumane trials.”

The members of the visiting session of the ICOM Presidium put flowers to the monument “Memory of Kuzbass Miners”, visited Kemerovo museums – the Fine Arts Museum, Museum of Local Studies, Historical, Cultural and Natural Museum-Reserve “Tomskaya Pisanitsa” and Museum-Reserve “Krasnaya Gorka”.
