Our Great Appreciation for the Big Writer

20.02.2015

February, 21, is Memory Day of the great Russian writer, Nobel Prize winner in literature, Mikhail Alexandrovich Sholokhov.

The heart of M.A.Sholokhov stopped beating on February, 21, 1984, at 1.40 a.m. . He was buried in Stanitsa Vyoshenskaya, in the garden of his estate on the bank of the Quiet Don, which he glorified in his works.

On these days in Stanitsa Vyoshenskaya, the residents and admirers of Sholokhov’s work, who came from different parts of Russia and foreign countries, put flowers to the bronze bust of the writer at the embankment and to his tomb.

On the 20 of February, a memorial meeting of M.A.Sholokhov will be held in the Palace of Culture of Vyoshenskaya. It will gather the writer’s countrymen, representatives of public organizations, delegations from northern districts of the Rostov Region. A literary and documentary composition “The Black Cobweb” will tell the audience about the events of 1938, one of the most tragic periods in the life of the writer and all our country.

On the Memory Day of the writer, 21 of February, all the Museum-Reserve sites and exhibitions will work for free admission.
