Preparing for Celebrations of the 110th Anniversary of M.A.Sholokhov are Running

On January, 14, the Rostov Region Governor V.Y.Golubev held a working meeting on preparations for the celebrations of the 110th anniversary of M.A.Sholokhov in the People’s House of the Museum-Reserve of M.A.Sholokhov.

The Governor underlined that the jubilee birthday of the great writer is celebrated in the Year of Literature; this fact is symbolic and imposing a responsibility on the celebration organizers. V.Y.Golubev noted that a number of projects beginning from the first days of 2015 and running throughout the year will be dedicated to Sholokhov’s jubilee. It is important that each step should be new, interesting and informative.”

A.A.Rezvanov, the Rostov Region Minister of Culture, informed about the preparations for the all-Russian literary and folklore holiday “Sholokhov Spring” dedicated to the 110th anniversary of M.A.Sholokhov. The celebrations will be opened with a children literary and folklore festival, which will take place on May, 22, in Stanitsa Karghinskaya to follow with an artistic and journalistic event joined by the admirers of Sholokhov’s work, in Stanitsa Vyoshenskaya. On May, 23, from morning till night, each guest will join the festivity. Though all the traditions of “Sholokhov Spring” will be kept, it will differ in the script and setting, after all this year it will be a jubilee holiday celebrating its 30th anniversary.

A.M.Sholokhov, Director of the Museum-Reserve, spoke about the Museum presentations of the events devoted to the 110th anniversary of M.A.Sholokhov and the 30th anniversary of “Sholokhov Spring”. A big program provides a number of international and all-Russian projects including an exhibition devoted to Mikhail Sholokhov and Ernest Hemingway to be shown in Cuba, celebrations in the Rostov Region, in Moscow, Volgograd, Surgut, Kazakhstan, international scientific conferences in Moscow and in Vyoshenskaya, an interesting educational program for schoolchildren and students. The State Hermitage is going to present its exhibition in Sholokhov Museum: there will be two exhibitions – in Rostov-on-Don, in the new Museum exhibition hall of “Sholokhov Centre”, and in Vyoshenskaya “People’s House”. A number of joint exhibition projects with the major museums are being prepared to be shown in Vyoshenskaya, and already late in January Sholokhov Museum begins its exhibitions in the districts of the Rostov Region.

An all-Russian festival of young writers and a congress of Cossack youth of Russia will be held in the country of Sholokhov.

O.N.Delnov, Head of the Sholokhov District, and Y.A.Pyatikov, Head of the Bokovsky District, informed about the preparation of the venues of events for the holiday “Sholokhov Spring” and about beautification of Stanitsa Vyoshenskaya and Stanitsa Karghinskaya.

Within the frames of a working visit the Governor attended the social facilities in Kashari, Bokovsky and Sholokhov districts, the location of film shooting for the new screen version of the novel “And Quiet Flows the Don” in Stanitsa Yelanskaya, learned about the work of the film crew and met with S.V.Ursulyak, the film director.
