A Valuable Gift

23.12.2015

In the year of the 110th anniversary of M.A.Sholokhov, Lidiya Ivanovna Vereshkova, the widow of K.I.Priyma, the prominent Sholokhov scholar, Doctor of Philological Sciences, Member of the USSR Union of Writers, made a free gift of a document collection with authentic autographs of M.A.Sholokhov to the Museum-Reserve of M.A.Sholokhov.

Working over the books “The Quiet Don is Fighting”, “On a Par with the Century” the author often asked M.A.Sholokhov to confirm the validity of this or that research conclusion. Thus, in the archives of K.I.Priyma there are autographs of M.A.Sholokhov. For example, there are autographs on the note of K.I.Priyma about the amendments to the new edition of the third book of “And Quiet Flows the Don”: “To K.Priyma. It must be recovered. M.Sholokhov. 10.4.82”; on the note about the article by E.M.Voloshko: “This is Voloshko’s fiction. 10.4.82”; on the memo about mistakes of professor A.I.Metchenko in the chapter “M.A.Sholokhov” in the book “History of Russian Soviet Literature”: “Nobody gave an indult from criticism to professor Metchenko. 10.4.82. M.Sholokhov” and other documents.

As well, the collection contains the texts of telegrams, newspapers, photos with autographs of M.A.Sholokhov.
