Schoolchildren Learn about the Nobel Celebrations

14.12.2015

The National M.A.Sholokhov Museum-Reserve held classes dedicated to the 50th anniversary of awarding M.A.Sholokhov the Nobel Prize in literature for the senior students of the Sholokhov school in Vyoshenskaya.

The children learned many interesting facts from the biography of the founder of the prize, Alfred Nobel, about the Nobel Prize laureates and the awarding ceremony.

In 1965, M.A.Sholokhov was awarded this prestigious prize in the field of literature for his novel “And Quiet Flows the Don” in recognition of the artistic power and integrity that he displayed in his Don historical epic about the life stages of the Russian people. The children learned about the history of the writer’s nomination for the Nobel Prize, about the program of attending the celebrations in Stockholm by the Sholokhov’s family, about the awarding ceremony, the banquet in honour of the laureates and the writer’s speech at the Nobel celebrations. They got interested in the photographs from the Museum collection, which tell about awarding M.A.Sholokhov the Nobel Prize.
