Sholokhov Museum Exhibition in Austria

On December, 15, in Vienna (Austria), in the Russian Centre of Science and Culture, the exhibition “Mikhail Sholokhov. A Look Through Time” began its run. It is dedicated to the 110th anniversary of awarding the great writer the Nobel Prize in literature.

The opening ceremony was joined by Tatiyana Sergeyevna Mishukovskaya, Director of the Russian Centre of Science and Culture, Advisor of the Russian Embassy in Austria, who underlined the importance of completing the Year of Literature with the exhibition of the literary Museum-Reserve of M.A.Sholokhov in Vienna. She stressed the jubilee events of the year – the 110th anniversary of the great Russian writer and the 50th anniversary of awarding Mikhail Sholokhov the Nobel Prize.

Alexander Mikhailovich Sholokhov, Director of the Museum-Reserve of M.A.Sholokhov, told about the creation history of the novel “And Quiet Flows the Don” by M.A.Sholokhov, about the milestones of the Museum formation. His speech gradually turned into a talk with the visitors of the exhibition and answers to many questions of the representatives of the creative intellectuals from the Austrian public and Russian compatriots.

The public got greatly interested in the unique photos and newsreel fragments about the ceremony of awarding M.A.Sholokhov the Nobel Prize in the Golden Hall of the Stockholm City-Hall, and a copy of the Nobel Diploma, which was the centre of the exhibition. The visitors saw the writer’s manuscripts, archive materials and documents.

 

The exhibition in the Russian Centre of Science and Culture in Vienna will run till January, 15, 2016, in: 8, Brahmsplatz, Vienna.
