23.11.2015

On November, 23, 2015, it is the 110th anniversary of Angelina Iosifovna Stepanova, a Soviet and Russian theatre and cinema actress, the People’s Actress of the USSR, Hero of Socialist Labour, the winner of the State Prize and Stalin Prize the First Degree.

“The brilliant and dramatic personal life of this actress could be a good material for a novelist and historian”, – wrote Inna Solovyova, a historian of the Art Theatre, about Angelina Stepanova.

Nearly seventy years of her life A.Stepanova devoted to the Moscow Art Theatre. She was rightly considered to be one of the greatest actresses of the Art Theatre.

The repertoire of this outstanding actress consisted of more than sixty roles in the theatre and cinema, but many of the admirers of the work of M.A.Sholokhov will remember her forever in a short, but a bright role of an old Cossack woman in the film “They Fought for Their Country” made by S.F.Bondarchuk.
