NewsSholokhov Centre Opens Exhibition “Mikhail Sholokhov.The Nobel Rise”13.11.2015The exhibition “Mikhail Sholokhov.The Nobel Rise” will begin its run on November, 20, in Sholokhov Centre of the Museum-Reserve of M.A.Sholokhov in Rostov-on-Don. This exhibition project is dedicated to the 50th anniversary of awarding the writer the Nobel Prize in literature for his novel “And Quiet Flows the Don”. The Swedish Academy awarded M.A.Sholokhov in 1965 “in recognition of the artistic power and integrity that he displayed in his Don historical epic about the life stages of the Russian people.” A great talent of the writer, his deep knowledge of people’s life and his humanist position enabled him to say a new word in the history of the world literature and open new ways of artistic discovering of the world and man. Sholokhov considered his duty to speak frankly with the reader and to strengthen faith in the future in people’s hearts. His credibility of a truly national writer is great, and in his life he was accompanied by a great interest of the readers and the world recognition. The exhibition based on the materials of the Museum-Reserve of M.A.Sholokhov is purposed to show the most significant moments of Sholokhov’s biography and remind the visitors about the events dating 50 years back, which were fixed on the black-and-white film. The focus of the exhibition is the authentic items referring to the time of awarding the writer the Nobel Prize – the evening ware of the Sholokhovs couple. The visitors will see exact copies of the Diploma and the medal, as well as the fragments of the newsreel telling about the atmosphere of the awarding ceremony in the Stockholm City Hall.
The exhibition will run until December, 15, 2015.
