Exhibition “Glorifier of the Don Steppes” is Opened in Taganrog

On November, 2, the exhibition “Glorifier of the Don Steppes” from the National M.A.Sholokhov Museum-Reserve and Taganrog Museum of Art began its work.

The exhibition project is realized in the Year of Literature in Russia and dedicated to the 110th anniversary of the great writer.

The exhibition displays personal belongings of M.A.Sholokhov, household utensils of the Don Cossacks, paintings of the Don artists B.Plevakin, B.Shcherbakov, S.Gavrilyachenko, and others. The multimedia program of the Museum-Reserve of M.A.Sholokhov shows the process of working over the manuscript of the novel “And Quiet Flows the Don”.

The exhibition opening ceremony was joined by O.L.Morozova, Deputy Head of the Taganrog Education Department, T.F.Pugach, Director of the Taganrog Museum of Art, students of the A.P.Chekhov Pedagogical Institute and museum-workers.

The visitors saw the Don steppe glorified by M.A.Sholokhov in his works, learned about the life of the Upper Don Cossacks, about the Nobel Prize winner and viewed the paintings by the Don artists, which make a wonderful illustration to the novel “And Quiet Flows the Don”.
