A New Musical Collection “The Music of the Quiet Don” Appeared in the Regional House of Folk Art
30.10.2015A musical collection “The Music of the Quiet Don” dedicated to the 110th anniversary of M.A.Sholokhov appeared as a result of folk and ethnographic expeditions about the areas of the Upper Don Rostov Region. The project was realized thanks to the support of the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation.
The novel by M.A.Sholokhov mentions 34 Don Cossack songs. The members of the project restored the authentic sounding of 25 of them. The song material is performed by the folklore group “Volnitsa” of the Rostov Regional House of Folk Art (director of the group is Alexander Venglevsky, Honoured Worker of Culture of Russia) and is presented on a disc. The sequence of the works corresponds to the chronology of their appearance in the novel “And Quiet Flows the Don”
