Meeting with the Giant Oak

21.10.2015

Within the project “Environmental Museum School” the primary school pupils of Sholokhov School in Stanitsa Vyoshenskaya go on studying the natural monuments of Sholokhov area, the sights connected with the life and work of M.A.Sholokhov.

This time the children went to the unique natural monument – the giant oak. They admired the giant size of the forest patriarch and talked about natural monuments: if any tree can become a natural monument and why the Oak of Vyoshenskaya is protected by the State. The children were able to embrace the tree trunk only when they in seven joined together by hands around the Oak.

The young ecologists remembered that since old times the oak has been considered a sacred tree having healing properties and the most powerful store of energy. From under the Oak the children gathered some acorns hoping to grow such a giant.
