NewsSholokhov Museum Opens Its Exhibition in Taganrog23.10.2015The joint exhibition project “Glorifier of the Don Steppes” of the Museum-Reserve of M.A.Sholokhov and the Taganrog Museum of Art dedicated to the 110th anniversary of the writer and the Year of Literature in Russia will begin its run on November, 2, in Taganrog. For the whole life Sholokhov had deeply loved the Don land, which gave him strength to live and create. In each of his works we feel his admiration for the beauty of nature. His descriptions of the steppe are filled with colours and closely connected with the lives of the personages; their mood and feelings are especially emotional. The nature was a kind of a creative workshop for the writer, a source of inspiration for him. On the pages of “Tales from the Don”, “And Quiet Flows the Don”, “Virgin Soil Upturned” we are shown a wonderful boundless world of the Don steppes. The exhibition will help the visitors to perceive in a new way the well-known Sholokhov’s words: “Beloved steppe under the low-hanging Don heaven! Winding ravines, dry valleys, ruddy banks, expanse of feather-grass woven with the darker traces of horse-hoofs, mounds rising in a wise silence, guarding the buried Cossack glory… I bow low and, as a son, kiss your fresh sweet earth, steppe of the Don, steeped in unrusting Cossack blood!” A multimedia program created by means of computer technologies “will open the door” into the writer’s workshop to show how difficult was the process of improving the text of the novel “And Quiet Flows the Don”, how each word was being ground and polished. The exhibition shows personal belongings of M.A.Sholokhov, paintings of the Don artists and Cossack household items.
The exhibition will run from November, 2, to December, 13, 2015, in the house of the Taganrog Museum of Art, 56 Alexandrovskaya Str., Taganrog.
