Who Plants and Protects the Forest?

13.10.2015

On October, 13, the museum-workers of the Museum-Reserve of M.A.Sholokhov within the frames of the project “Environmental Museum School” held a class “Who Plants the Forest?” for the children of kindergarten 2 “Romashka” of Stanitsa Vyoshenskaya.

The class was purposed for opening the mind, taking to a careful attitude to the forest and introducing the children to the profession of forester.

The young ecologists learned that a forester is a real master of the forest: he protects it from pollution, breaking trees, picking flowers or making fires, he controls the felling of old trees and takes care of the beasts.

The children listened to the guide telling about the forest and foresters, about the importance of such a difficult, but very interesting and useful profession with great interest. Then they together with Ecoznaika had a walk along the ecological path and went to the mini-park, which they laid this spring in the northern part of the yard.

The plants in the mini-park form four circles: in the centre of the composition there are three oak seedlings, in the second circle there is a horse chestnut, in the third one – the Crimean pine, in the fourth one – the Chinese elm. The summer being very hot, some of the plants died, though the children carefully watered them. Now the children planted new trees to recover the previous look of the mini-park.

The class was interesting, informative and fruitful. In spring the children will be able to observe the growth and development of the seedlings they planted.
